Introduction

The Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross/Crescent (ICRC) has been pioneering the preventive measures to reduce risk to life posed by landmines/UXO/ERWs and IEDs in high-risk areas of Pakistan.

To this effect, Community Based Risk Education and Victims Assistance (CBRE&VA) programme has been launched in the most affected areas of Pakistan, namely;

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK)
Muzaffarabad, Neelum, Haveli, Poonch, Kotli, Bhimber
Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA)
Mohmand Agency, Bajaur Agency, Khyber Agency, Kurrum Agency
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
Hangu, DI Khan, Dir (Lower), Swat

There is an overwhelming need for Risk Education (RE) in high-risk areas and in this regard the PRC is looking towards expanding this program based on the needs identified to other provinces. The program also carters to the victims of explosive ordnance through systematic identification of victims and their referral to in-country rehabilitation programs.
